Fairy Floss Machine Instructions

Setting up:

Fairy floss machines need their own power point.  The head has a heating element inside which draws a lot of power.  Our machines use 10 amps to operate efficiently.  It is important not to run any other machines on the same power point! It is also important to place the machine under a tent for protection against wind and for shade from the sun.

Place the machine on a sturdy table.  Fit bowl around collar and place bubble around the lip of the bowl,  Secure the bubble with the bolt and wing nut. Fill the head with sugar while the machine is off.  Make sure both switches are off (in the up position).  Connect the lead to the machine and power point. Turn on both switches and turn the heat to 5 or 6 (some machines have a black dial which is set to 3).  Clockwise is up.  It will take up to 4 minutes to heat up.  Get familiar with the heat control which you turn up to make the machine faster, and down to slow it down.

Making a stick of floss:

Place your stick inside the bowl, twirl the stick in your fingers and also move in an anti-clockwise direction.  Avoid rolling the stick of floss along the side of the bowl, you will pick-up the waste which isn't soft and fluffy and makes the flossy heavy.  Make sure you have the stick low to the bottom of the bowl so that the fairy floss grips the stick well.  Make it to the size you want.  Refill the sugar in the head every 5-6 sticks (while the machine is running).  If you don't refill the head often then the machine will get too hot and floss will go thick like rope and burn.

Cleaning the machine:

When finished for the day, turn the floss control to off.  Turn off the heat switch then let the motor run for approx 1 minute to cool the head of the machine down.  Now once cooled switch off machine motor and remove power lead from the machine.

Lift off the bowl and bubble from the machine and then wash the bowl and bubble with warm water and a mild detergent.  No harsh rubbing or chemicals!  Warm soapy water and a soft sponge will dissolve the waste. Wipe over cabinet and neck with a damp cloth, but do not wipe or wash the head of the machine.  Flossy will clean the machine head on its return.

Never attempt to repair the machine.  It is most likely a minor problem with a simple solution.

Important:

Do not attempt to operate the machine from portable generators.
